Give Your Management Career A Kick Start
John started his career at Wal Mart when he was 19. He had worked there for 6 years and yearned for a change. He felt his life was not going anywhere. Although he was promoted as a store manager two years ago, he doubted his management skills.
He had to work and supported a family of 5 including himself. He eagerly attended professional development courses and conferences whether they were held by his employer or not. John's colleague, Jude, who had been a store manager for two years, was promoted and got a better raise. He talked with his supervisor and was informed of his lower level of education.
John decided to pursue a bachelor degree. Sometimes things are easier said than done. He asked around for cheaper a tuition, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities in some of the public universities in his state. He went online and completed a bachelors degree program. Soon after started he continued his study for a MBA.
The admission process was not too hard since they have representatives discussing your options with you. Studying for his degrees was not easy since he had been out of school for awhile. He had to take Economics and Accounting, and other courses he wasn't used to taking in school. But the good thing was that he didn't really have to take a lot of general courses. It was and is flexible and fun experience for him. With time management, John managed to get his bachelor's degree and is currently pursing a MA degree.
Six months after graduation, he was promoted, while at the same time, he was offered a better position as a consultant.
