Giving a speech with your well-protected voice
Jenny used to be a singer in her church choir. She had a wonderful voice but was destroyed by smoking. She started smoking after she was divorced. It didn't take her very long to start losing her good voice. If you are a singer like Jenny, a teacher, or a public speaker, you want to protect your voice. It is one of your tools to survival and pay bills.
Some say one raw egg a day in the early morning could help protect your voice. This may be extreme. All you have to do is speak softly but not whispering, drink more water, avoid heavily polluted areas. Do not smoke or drink alcohol. The more you need to talk, the more water you should drink. Let your vocal cord rest whenever you can. Drink less cold soda pop but more warm soup or any liquid.
Most of all, use your stomach instead of your vocal cords while you talk. If you can, practice how to make this a natural reaction. Practice more, this will be your habit. If you can, try to record your voice when you control it in a different way and see what method work for you. Protecting a good voice is not something you can accomplish overnight. You need time, methods, and patience to do it.
